Wirtgen Group Expands Into Aggregate Processing
Sept. 29, 2006 – Wirtgen Group of Germany – parent of Wirtgen America Inc. – has acquired a majority ownership position in Kleemann GmbH, a leading international manufacturer of portable and stationary aggregate processing equipment.
Kleemann – the headquartered in Göppingen, Germany, will continue to operate with its own brand name under the umbrella of the Wirtgen Group.
Kleemann manufactures and markets a broad range of mobile and stationary processing technology for crushed stone, demolition waste and mixed construction waste. The products made by Kleemann GmbH enjoy a good reputation in the international market, thus fitting well with Wirtgen’s strategy of quality equipment and customer-oriented service.
Wirtgen Group will position its Wirtgen, Vögele and Hamm brands into a ”Wirtgen Road Technologies” business segment, and Kleemann in a new ”Wirtgen Mineral Technologies” segment.
At this time, Kleemann products are not actively marketed in North America.

Wirtgen America, Inc., Nashville, is the North American arm of the Wirtgen Group, the single-source marketer of the world's most technologically advanced lines of asphalt reclaiming and recycling equipment from Wirtgen, asphalt and soil compactors from Hamm Compaction Division, and U.S.-sourced asphalt pavers from Vögele America Inc. In late 2004 Reinhard Wirtgen, founder of Wirtgen Group, was honored as one of the "Top 100 Private Sector Transportation Design & Construction Professionals of the 20th Century" by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA).
